Philosophy

The fundamentals of music are universal no matter the genre, and each student should play the music they enjoy most. 

My role is to teach the basic technical, and theoretical concepts within the context of what the student enjoys playing most. The goal is to equip my students with the necessary tools to learn and play whatever they want.

Curriculum

• Guitar maintenance and anatomy

• Concepts: measures, time signatures, and counting

• Basic chords + Strumming patterns

• Music Theory

  • Beginner: musical alphabet, rhythms, notes on the guitar

  • Intermediate: Scales, chord structure, and fundamental harmony

  • Advanced: Modes, Functional Harmony and Forms

• Introduction to soloing

• Barr chords and closed chords

• Building custom chords and arpeggios

• How to practice
